The core system was manufactured
and marketed under an exclusive licence by Agfa NDT Ltd (formerly Krautkramer UK Ltd)
from 1992 to 2003. During that period the system was continually developed
by QinetiQ Ltd and the enhancements are now being released in a series of new
software versions available from several different licensees.
Initially the ANDSCAN system was recognised as an R-Theta manual scanner with associated software to acquire and display the NDT data. The move to ANDSCAN for Windows in 1995 heralded a greatly enhanced data-analysis software package. By the time ANDSCAN 2000 was released, the software had become the main attraction of the system, and it was flexible enough to read position from a wide variety of manual and automated scanners.
It is now possible to control various immersion scanning and other automated systems using the new Motion Control option. This enables ANDSCAN to be fitted as a software upgrade to existing scanning systems.
